​Dinamo (Barnaul) won the Student Hockey Challenge Cup

On October 7, the International Student Team Tournament “Student hockey challenge” ended in Krasnoyarsk. It was the fourth test event of the upcoming Winter Universiade 2019. The participants contested in the showdowns at Crystal Ice Arena.

The American Collegiate Hockey Association Select Team (ACHA) didn’t manage to overcome Derzhava (Tambov) and lost 4-6 in the match for the 7th place. Roman Konovalov scored a brace, Sergei Stetsenko, Dinar Safin, Ruslan Zaznobin and Oleg Khromov got on a scoresheet with point-blank shots.

UK Praha won the 5th place in a tough struggle thanks to the hat-trick of Pulkrab Marek. The first two goals of the Czech attacker helped to tie the game, and the third goal brought the victory 4-3 over FGCU.

SHL West beat SHL East 3-2 in the bronze medal match. During the match the teams went stride with each other, and after the regulation time and overtime the score was 2:2. Alexey Dmitriev secured the victory of SHL West in the shootouts.

In the evening, Dinamo (Barnaul, RF) and UMB (Banska Bystrica, Slovakia) squared off with each other in the final match). The Slovakian team took the first lead in the third minute of the match but in the middle of the first period Ilya Shubovitch scored the equalizer and sent the game to the intermission tied 1-1. Thanks to the brace of Jacub Tatar the Slovakian team were ahead 3 - 1, but missed the shot of Maxim Chirkov and the score became 2 -3 in favour of UMB. During the last minutes of the game Ivan Pereverzev and Vladislav Povelyev pulled out the victory over UMB (Slovakia). Dinamo (Baranul) won 4-3.

After the matches at Crystal Ice Arena, two press conferences were held during which the coaches of the teams gave their comments on the game and answered the questions from the media. Lukas Opath, the coach of UMB (Slovakia) expressed his deep regret that their team didn’t win in the final game. At the same time, he said that the tournament is well organized, and his team players showed their love for hockey.

Alexander Usachev, the coach of Dinamo expressed his gratitude to all the organizers and volunteers of the tournament for the wonderful reception, “I would like to thank for the hockey, for the final game, during which we managed to change the course of the game. We are happy that we participated in the tournament of such a high level.”

After the final match, the Closing Ceremony of the International Student Team Tournament ”Student hockey challenge” was held. Maxim Chirkov was given the title of the best player in the winning team. And Michal Zacik was awarded as the best player in the team of silver medalists. Vladimir Korytar (UMB, Slovakia) became the best goalkeeper of the tournament, the best defender was Nikita Denisov (Dinamo, Barnaul), and Dmitry Makarov (SHL West, Russia) got the title of the best attacker.

The main organisers also expressed their opinion on the tournament. Anton Khramtsov, the Director of the Russian Student Hockey League underlined that a record number of teams participated in this sports event, “This is the first competition of such a high level with 8 teams participating in it. Previously we held the tournament where a less number of teams took part. This time, there were more countries, more matches and a higher sports motivation for the teams. For us it’s a huge step forward. All together we could hold a wonderful event – warm and emotional.”

Maxim Urazov, the Director General of ANO “Directorate Krasnoyarsk 2019” gave a summary of the event and told about the plans for the future. “We are holding e several test events for the Winter Universiade 2019 in a row. It’s great that they are becoming special events that attract people who come and get many emotions. These test events give an opportunity for spectators, stadiums, venues and services to be tested. In a week we invite everyone to the Figure Skating Russian Cup. And in one more week everyone is welcomed to the Short Track Speed Skating competitions. We are moving forward to
