​​Krasnoyarsk will start the Year of Japan two months ahead of Moscow

On March 24th the youth center "Pilot" will host a festival of Japanese culture "Hanami". The organizers are the Japanese Center and the Institute of Philology and Language Communication of SFU with the support of the administration of the city of Krasnoyarsk. The program of the festival includes master classes on traditional Japanese culture, games, presentations, mini-lectures, performances of Japanese language students.

For the refernece - the year 2018 in Russia was declared the Year of Japan, and in Japan - the Year of Russia.

Already now, in Krasnoyarsk, the events and activities aimed at strengthening bilateral relations in various spheres are in full swing. Since February, in the network of city libraries for children has been working a mobile exhibition "Japan - the country of the Rising Sun", while in Krasnoyarsk schools lessons of Japanese, origami master classes, interactive games about Japan "6852" (the figure denotes by the number of islands constituting the Japanese archipelago) have been organised.

The nearest event devoted to the Year of Japan is scheduled for March 3d. On this day at 13.00 in the children's library named after Victor Dragunsky and also on March 6th at 14.00 in the library named after Nikolai Ostrovsky there will be lectures about how this day is celebrated in Japan, participants will also have a chance to make doll-shaped bookmarks (shiori-ningyo) and take part in a quiz.

The official opening ceremony of the Year of Japan in Russia will be held on May 26th in Moscow.
