Mayor of Krasnoyarsk Sergei Eremin held a meeting with the delegation of the leading architectural bureau of Japan - Nikken Sekkei company

Krasnoyarsk is the only Russian city where research is being conducted within the framework of the APEC LCMT project. This project is implemented jointly with the Asia-Pacific Energy Research Center, as well as scientists of the Siberian Federal University and specialists of the construction company "Monolitholding." Research expert team for Krasnoyarsk, which was approved as a result of the competitive selection by APEC officials, is the Japanese architectural bureau Nikken Sekkei. Its representatives arrived in Krasnoyarsk to present a report on the analysis and discuss with all experts included in this work the recommendations on the introduction of low-carbon technologies in Krasnoyarsk.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Mayor of Krasnoyarsk Sergei Eremin thanked the Japanese researchers for the large-scale work that they carried out: "You analyzed all the infrastructure of our city, from thermal power facilities to the residential private sector. You looked into the whole range of issues that affect the ecology of our city. We will carefullly consider your proposals for the development of Krasnoyarsk as a low-carbon city and the possibility of their further inclusion in the program of social and economic development. The theme of ecological balance is certainly significant for all Krasnoyarsk residents. This direction acquires additional significance in connection with the coming Universiade in our city. After all, a favorable environment is also an element of hospitality."

The executive director of the Nikken Sekkei Research Institute Mr. Shinji Yamamura noted that the cooperation with Krasnoyarsk had begun as early as 2013 and since then occupies a very special place in the activity of their architectural bureau. This is due to the fact that Krasnoyarsk is the first city in Russia, where with the participation of the Japanese specialists in urban planning, the "smart city" project has been implemented.

"Two weeks ago I participated in an international conference in Europe, where I spoke about this work. It aroused great interest among European experts. I believe that such projects make Krasnoyarsk competitive, they become a kind of a brand. Same holds true for the LCMT project. During the current year, we have worked closely with the city administration to find solutions to environmental issues. I sincerely hope that the results of our work will help Krasnoyarsk to become better, to ensure its sustainable development," said Mr. Shinji Yamamura. He also expressed hope that the cooperation with Krasnoyarsk will be continued in new projects.

At the end of the meeting, the Mayor of Krasnoyarsk Sergei Eremin invited Mr. Shinji Yamamura to become a participant of the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum-2018 in order to present to the wide audience of federal and regional levels, as well as representatives of the public, the results of research conducted  in Krasnoyarsk.

The final recommendations of the project experts will serve as a model for designing low-carbon cities in Russia and other APEC countries with similar climatic conditions.
