​​​First Vice-Mayor of Krasnoyarsk Andrey Ignatenko met with the delegation of Daejeon Metropolitan City (the Republic of Korea)

The visit of the delegation of Daejeon Metropolitan City became yet another stage in the cooperation between Krasnoyarsk and the Republic of Korea. Since 2010, the representatives of South Korea have become regular participants of the international forums, festivals and projects organized and held in Krasnoyarsk, developing cooperation in the cultural, scientific, technical, medical and tourist spheres.

Welcoming the members of the delegation, First Vice-Mayor of Krasnoyarsk Andrey Ignatenko said: "We are very glad that you have visited Krasnoyarsk during your first visit to Russia. After all, Krasnoyarsk is not only the most eastern Russian city among the cities that have population over 1 million, but it is also the city that connects Asia and Europe. We are proud owners of unique nature, powerful industrial potential and one of the largest scientific and educational centers of Russia - the Siberian Federal University. All this allows Krasnoyarsk to develop and attract new residents to the city. Our city is also a platform for international economic, cultural and sports forums. Now Krasnoyarsk is actively preparing for the Winter Universiade-2019. I know that Daejeon has many universities and is considered the scientific and technical capital of South Korea. I hope that your student-athletes will participate in the Winter Univesiade-2019 and will become the guests of our city."

In his turn, the head of the Korean delegation, Vice-Mayor of Daejeon Metropolitan City, Mr. Lee replied: "I thank you for your warm welcoming. Krasnoyarsk is a beautiful, modern and powerful city. As for Winter Universiade that will be held in Krasnoyarsk in 2019, many Korean athletes are already preparing for it. I am convinced that this event will be remembered by all the guests and participants of the Universiade. Next year in February South Korea will host the Winter Olympic Games. I'm sure that the participation of Russian team in these Games will be successful. Also, in September this year the 2017 Asia Pacific Cities Summit (2017 APCS) will be held in Daejeon and we would like to invite your city's delegation to this event. I believe that the Summit can become a new platform for the development of cooperation between our cities."

Daejeon Metropolitan City is the fifth largest city in South Korea, with a population over 1.5 million. Daejeon is both a major transportation hub and an important administrative center of the Republic of Korea. Currently, 12 national government offices, including Korea Customs Service, Small and Medium Business Administration, Public Procurement Service, National Statistical Office, Military Manpower Administration, Korea Forest Service, Cultural Heritage Administration, and Korean Intellectual Property Office, as well as Patent Court of Korea, are located in Daejeon.
