​​​The Mayor of Krasnoyarsk Edkham Akbulatov handed over the official flag of FISU to the representatives of the Executive Directorate of the XXIX World Winter Universiade

Krasnoyarsk took part in the all-Russian mass ski race "Ski Track of Russia 2017". Miscellaneous program was prepared for the participants of the sports festival: ski races of different lengths, exhibition gala of figure skaters, various masterclasses, football, floorball, basketball and winter volleyball competitions. 

The culmination of the festival was the ceremony of handing over the FISU official flag to the representatives of the Executive Directorate of the 29th World Winter Universiade.

"It is no coincidence that it is here, in Tatyshev Park - the sports heart of our city, I pass the FISU flag to the Universiade 2019 Directorate: young, energetic guys who do everything for the world student sports forum to be held in Krasnoyarsk at the highest level. Universiade is also important because it will allow our city to implement a number of projects aimed at changing the quality of its citizens' life. And I'm sure, that we will cope with everything," said the Mayor of Krasnoyarsk.

Taking the FISU flag, head of the Executive Directorate of the 29th Winter Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk Maxim Urazov pointed out, "Krasnoyarsk is intensively preparing for the Universiade. More than 34 objects will be constructed, our city will change greatly. We have a unique opportunity - to show our beautiful city to our guests and colleagues. We will do everything to make the Universiade 2019 the best, the most open and the friendliest. World Student Games will be the continuation of the sports traditions of Krasnoyarsk and they will also be an opportunity to host new events​ in the capital of Krasnoyarsk Region in future."​

The honorable mission - to run the ski distance with the FISU flag - was imposed on the Krasnoyarsk champion of the 28th Winter Universiade in Almaty Sergei Korastylyov, who won the gold medal as a member of the Russian team in the mixed relay, the silver medal in the individual race and another gold medal in the pursuit race.

We would also like to note that the FISU flag will be presented at the university grounds around the city. At the closing ceremony of the 29th Winter Universiade, by tradition, it will be handed over to the representatives of the following World Student Games.
