On the evening of March 22, unknown persons opened fire at the Moscow Crocus City Hall. 137 people (the exact number yet to be determined) died from the shooting and later a fire started by the attackers.

Krasnoyarsk City Administration organized a memorial at Krasnaya (Red) Square to pay tribute to the victims of the tragedy. Several venues in Krasnoyarsk cancelled any and all entertainment events for the weekend. Krasnoyarsk universities are strengthening security measures and transferring classes to an online format.
