On February 27, which is coincidentally International Polar Bear Day, the winners of the VII All-Russian literary competition with international participation "The Arctic Star – Umka" were announced during the awarding ceremony held in Krasnoyarsk.

The ceremony was broadcast in the screening room of the Rosneft pavilion at VDNKh as part of the International Exhibition and Forum "Russia", where from February 27 to March 3, representatives of Rosneft and the Wildlife Society talk about the company's scientific projects to study these Arctic 'bioindicator' animals.

Children from the Donetsk People's Republic, the Lugansk People's Republic, the Republic of Crimea, 1,585 young talents from 56 regions from Kaliningrad to Sakhalin, but also more than 100 children from other countries, such as Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Malaysia submitted their works to the competition.

This year's competition, the jury highly regarded quite a few works of the participants from foreign countries. The submissions by two participants from Harbin, China, took first and second places in the "Essay" category; within the "Poems" category the third place was taken by a work from the city of Changchun, China, and a participant from the city of Mogilev in Belarus was awarded a special prize; the entry of a participant from Mogilev won in the "Fairy Tales" category, and the jury also awarded two works from Moldova and Belarus special prizes.

Most of the submitted works this year were Fairy Tales, and it is no coincidence – like no one else children know how to dream and believe in goodness in the world. This demonstrates the genuine desire of this new generation of people to save the unique nature of our planet, albeit only through creativity for now.

The purpose of the competition is to attract attention and all possible assistance in preserving the polar bear population and other unique representatives of the Arctic fauna, and most importantly, to strengthen creative and international ties between Russia and other countries, based on good neighborliness and joint work to preserve the nature of the planet Earth.
