The Krasnoyarsk Platinum Arena complex hosted the opening ceremony of the most spectacular tournament of the season, the "Rostelecom - Russian Championship-2023" in figure skating.

This is the second time Krasnoyarsk is hosting a national figure skating competition. This year the championship is unofficially called the "mini world championship", as the list of participants is truly stellar. The Siberians will have the opportunity to see the rivalry of the country's best skaters, such as Alexandra Trusova, Kamila Valieva, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, Mark Kondratyuk and other athletes.

The guests and participants of the tournament were greeted by the First Deputy Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Region - Chairman of the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Region Yuri Lapshin:

— Krasnoyarsk is meeting its friends again - representatives of a bright, starry, courageous and very beautiful sport, the best skaters in Russia. Frankly speaking, I'd say the best skaters on the planet. The national figure skating calendar this year is as busy as ever. Special thanks to the Figure Skating Federation for choosing Krasnoyarsk for the main start on our Siberian land. We, in turn, will do everything to make Krasnoyarsk a true Siberian home for you - a home where you are always loved and welcomed with an open soul. Long story short, welcome home!

The opening ceremony became the most ambitious in terms of the number of participants. The star-filled Championship was opened by 78 Krasnoyarsk figure skaters. The performance routines themselves were staged by famous choreographer from Moscow Nikita Mikhailov. The lead character of the production was the figure skater, or rather, the phenomenon of the qualities that allow the athlete to achieve true peak. During the ice show, the audience saw a visualization of the Russian character, strength and patience, an early start to a career, and the athletes' friendship. Not only skaters were involved in the opening, but also short track skaters in the form of animals, as well as acrobats on trampolines.

I am sure that the skaters' performance will be a wonderful New Year's gift for all figure skating fans. And the performance of, truly, the best skaters on the planet will be able to melt your hearts. I would like to wish the athletes and coaches that the Krasnoyarsk ice becomes lucky for you! – said Alexander Kogan, Director General of the Russian Figure Skating Federation.

Skaters will compete for sets of awards in four disciplines: women's single skating, men's single skating, pair skating and ice dancing. The prize money for the winners will amount to 2.5 million rubles, for 2nd place - 1.5 million, for 3rd place - 1 million.

The sports part of the national championship will end on December 24, and the performances will take place on December 25​.
