The VIII International Siberian Historical Forum started in the capital of the Krasnoyarsk Region on September 21st, and was taking place over several days. The large-scale humanitarian event was timed to coincide with the 120th anniversary of the Krasnoyarsk branch of the Russian Geographical Society All-Russian public organisation and the 200th anniversary of the Yenisei province, which will be celebrated next year.

The content of the forum is traditionally much wider than the main topic and includes the history of the material and spiritual culture of Siberia, as well as the role of the macroregion in the context of both world and Russian history. Within the framework of the forum, discussions were held on general issues of the state of historical knowledge in Russia, as well as the urgent tasks of coordinating research, educational and publishing activities.

Mayor Sergei Eremin made a presentation on the prospects for the evolution of the city from the point of view of the application of the most effective technologies in the field of urban planning, energy, housing and communal services and transport during the section "400th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk. Humanitarian Development ".

In his report the Mayor paid great attention to the issues of economic, social and spatial development of Krasnoyarsk, taking into account the needs of the townspeople in a qualitative improvement of the ecological situation. He also emphasised that from the point of view of the internal organization of the city's life, the initial conditions are already being formed for the implementation of the concept of a biophilic city in Krasnoyarsk.

— A biophilic city is a metropolis where biodiversity is preserved, a place where residents have the opportunity to spend a lot of time outdoors among nature, and the infrastructure does not harm biodiversity and ecosystems. By and large, translated into simple Russian, a biophilic city is a park-like city. And I would like our urban planning decisions to be based precisely on this ideology. I would like this dream as a goal to be appropriated, apart from me, by structural developers, architects and designers.

The Siberian Historical Forum is the only platform beyond the Urals where eminent experts and history lovers exchange views on the most relevant topics related to the preservation of the historical and spiritual heritage of the peoples of Siberia, as well as its future development.

The 2021 forum is attended by representatives of more than a hundred universities from 70 cities of Russia - from St. Petersburg and Petrozavodsk to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, employees of specialized institutes of the Academy of Sciences, specialists from leading museums of the country and foreign experts.
