​The Krasnoyarsk Region team won a landslide victory in the international youth online chess tournament, beating the team from China. The competitions were dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the end of World War II.

The tournament was taking place for four days and finished by the evening of May 15. Young chess players under 12 fought for victory. A total of 12 athletes from Krasnoyarsk, Zheleznogorsk, Zelenogorsk and Divnogorsk met on a virtual chessboard with children from the Chinese province of Heilongjiang.

According to the results of the tournament, the Krasnoyarsk team scored 57.5 points, whereas their rivals from China totalled 18.5.

«Our goal is not only to win, but to adopt experience as well, to understand how chess is played by representatives of another country. This is experience for the kids. We showed that life does not end in self-isolation. You can keep on developing and learning,» – said Andrei Modestov, Chairman of the Chess Federation.
