The XXXI International Grand Prix Wrestling Tournament «Ivan Yarygin» will be taking place from January 23 to 26 in Krasnoyarsk.

The strongest wrestlers from Japan, the USA, Mongolia, Canada, Jordan, Greece, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia are expected to participate in the competition. The men's and women's teams of Krasnoyarsk Region are to be presented separately as well.

The Krasnoyarsk Region women’s team’s names have already been announced: such athletes, as Daria Khvostova, Alexandra Nitsenko, Olga Khoroshavtseva, Dinara Salikhova, Yulia Prontsevich, Khanum Velieva, Alyona Starodubtseva, Kristina Shumova, Ekaterina Isakova, Tatiana Novik are set to join the team. The men’s team’s list has yet to be finalised.

«We host the International Grand Prix Wrestling Tournament «Ivan Yarygin» at the highest level organisation- and sports-wise every single time. Nevertheless, the Universiade held and a number of other recent sports events impose additional responsibility on us. In this sense, everything that we carry out now, especially if there’s some international level involved, ought to be organised perfectly,» – the Chairman of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Government Yuri Lapshin stated.

Director Maxim Gurevich spoke about the technical and semantic decisions of the grand opening of the tournament. The main slogan of the event «Face to Face» aims to reflect both the meeting of rivals on the wrestling mat and the openness of Krasnoyarsk to the whole world.
