The opening of the retrospective «Mikhalkov VS Konchalovsky» took place in Film House on December 30. The event is held as part of the XIV Winter Surikov Art Festival. The retrospective programme includes films of the descendants of Vasily Surikov – Russian directors Nikita Mikhalkov and Andrei Konchalovsky. During the screenings, an interactive voting was organized for the preferred creative style of the cinema masters, the result of which will be summed up at the end of the retrospective.

«Every year during the Surikov Art Festival, we talk about the life and artistic heritage of our fellow countryman and try to do it in various ways. This season, the organisers presented truly unusual formats of work with. We speak the language of cinema, and decided to recall Vasily Ivanovich through watching and discussing films of his descendants,» – noted director of Film House Larisa Antropova.

The first picture in the programme is one of Nikita Mikhalkov’s earliest movies, «At Home Among Strangers, a Stranger Among His Own». Before the show, the opening of the exhibition «Lord of the Time» by the Siberian School of Design took place. Graphic exposition was prepared by students of the Graphic Design course. In their works, they rethought the themes of the works of the famous painter and presented new interpretations of recognizable cultural images.

As part of a retrospective, Film House will present the following pictures: «The Story of Asya Klyachina» (December 29), «An Unfinished Piece for Mechanical Piano» (January 11), «Uncle Vanya» (January 12), «Burnt by the Sun» (January 18), «A Lover's Romance» (January 19), «12» (January 25), «Gloss» (January 26).

At the end of the retrospective programme, a discussion platform will be organised where viewers will discuss the works of two directors with film expert Anna Kozak, and a friendly rivalry between representatives of the cultural dynasty will be summed up.
