According to the press service of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Government, reconstruction of the main taxiway has begun at the Krasnoyarsk Airport. Currently preparatory work is underway, while the construction itself will start at the end of summer.

For this purpose, the Government of the Russian Federation allocated 600 million rubles from the Reserve Fund. The new main taxiway will increase the airport capacity more than two times, from 12 to 23-25 take-off and landing operations per hour. This will expand the network of interregional and international passenger routes, improve the quality of service for airplanes, passengers and cargo.

The total area of concrete coatings of the new main taxiway is 154.5 thousand square meters. The project provides for the extension of the main taxiway, the arrangement of a site for working with anti-icing liquid, the construction of electric networks, treatment facilities, the organization of light-signal support and other engineering networks.

Direct construction work will begin before the end of August and will take two construction seasons. It will be done at a distance from the existing runway, sufficient to continue the smooth operation of the airport. A fully updated main taxiway will be commissioned next year.

The Regional Government Prime minister, Yuri Lapshin, insisted on completing maximum possible amount of work before the end of this year: “Our task is to ensure clear funding and the implementation of the work schedule. Earthwork is not as capital intensive as concrete. Nevertheless, I ask everyone to draw up a construction schedule in such a way that, if possible, we could start concreting already this year. When scheduling, it is necessary to determine the control points of the volume of work, which will be evaluated once a week. The construction season is running out, and while we can tolerate some pauses due to weather conditions, the interruptions due to the fact that someone did not agree with someone should not be allowed.”
