Today, Mayor Sergei Eremin held an out-of-office meeting on the development of accessible urban environment. It was no coincidence that it took place in the Visit Center of the Stolby Nature Reserve, as the main topic was the possibility of developing inclusive tourism in Krasnoyarsk and, particularly, creating new services for people with disabilities at Stolby. The meeting brought together the staff of the reserve, experts from the Tourism Agency of the Krasnoyarsk Region, city experts, representatives of travel agencies and people with disabilities.

Addressing his colleagues, Mayor of Krasnoyarsk noted that this dialogue could be the starting point in the development of a new direction that will make our city more accessible.

I would suggest replacing the term “accessible” with a more comprehensive concept of “universal”. A universal environment means that the interests of all citizens and guests of the city are taken into account: people with special needs, mothers with children, older generation and ordinary people. We must strive to create a universal urban environment on a daily basis. Our additional incentive in this matter is the approaching 400th Anniversary of Krasnoyarsk, which we will celebrate in 2028.

The opportunities for the development of inclusive tourism in our city were presented to the Mayor by employees of the Main Department of Social Welfare. Not so long ago, they became participants of the Baikal Inclusive Forum, where they studied Russian and international best practices in this field. The participants of the meeting agreed that Krasnoyarsk has unique infrastructure, which now allows opening the city to "special" tourists.

Vera Chizhova, Cand. Sc. Geography, leading researcher at the Department of Physical Geography in Moscow State University: “In my opinion, your reserve is ahead of the rest, because in other regions there is no such complex approach. Here, the first “white path” in Russia was created, as well as a rather long eco-route for people with limited mobility. The reserve also offers houses available for their living, and viewing decks. I’m sure that our today's discussion will result in new projects.”

Summing up the meeting, Mayor of Krasnoyarsk ordered the City Administration’s specialists to continue to learn from the best practices of inclusive tourism and to work on the task of exchanging “special” tourists with other cities of Russia.

Krasnoyarsk has a good base in order to become one of the leading cities of this direction in Russia, thanks, in particular, to our unique natural sites. Yes, a number of serious problems have to be solved, but for this we have the main thing - a huge number of people that are ready to start and support the changes.
