On August 15, Deputy Head of Mayor’s Department, Vadim Falaleev, met with a delegation from Changchun (China). During the meeting, the parties discussed issues concerning the cooperation between sister cities.

Mr. Gong Xiaoing, Chairman of the Board of the Changchun Corporation “Gong Zheng” and Deputy Chairman of the Changchun Chamber of Commerce and Industry, noted the interest in cooperation in the field of agriculture. Today, the Gong Zheng Corporation is already implementing a project in the territory of the Minusinsk district of the Krasnoyarsk Region. 200 jobs have already been created for the residents of the district. The project continues to develop, there are plans of constructing a plant for the production of milk powder.

According to Mr. Gong Xiaoing, growing medicinal plants is also a promising field. However, the procedure for obtaining official permission to grow certain crops that are not on the official list of plants allowed to be grown in the Russian Federation is quite complicated and takes time. At the same time, in the recipes of Chinese traditional medicine, more than 350 types of plants are used to make only one medicine.

Today, the Changchun Gong Zheng Corporation plans to implement another project, now on the territory of Krasnoyarsk - the creation of a center of traditional Chinese medicine. The building has already been rented and 200 million rubles have been invested in its restoration and repairing. It is planned that Chinese specialists will come to Krasnoyarsk on a rotational basis, spending 1-2 months in the city, simultaneously treating the patients and training local specialists in traditional Chinese medicine techniques (approximately 20 students a year).

Vadim Falaleev noted: “Mayor of Krasnoyarsk Sergei Eremin believes tha a large center providing traditional eastern medicine services could be interesting not only for Krasnoyarsk residents, but also for the residents of nearby regions of the Russian Federation.”

Mr. Gong Xiaoing also mentioned the initiative to create a trade and commerce representative office of Changchun in Krasnoyarsk.

During the meeting, Mr. Zhao Huanying, Head of the Divisiont of the Office of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Government of Changchun, outlined the urgent need to organize a direct Changchun-Krasnoyarsk flight. Vadim Falaleev supported this initiative, noting that Krasnoyarsk already offerss regular flights from Chinese cities and if the flight is claimed by passengers, its opening will only bring our sister cities closer together.
