Today, the City Administration held a solemn ceremony of awarding volunteers of the "silver" age and disabled volunteers for their work at the Universiade. Volunteer assistants were congratulated by Krasnoyarsk Mayor Sergei Eremin and the Chairman of the Krasnoyarsk City Council Natalia Firyulina.

A month ago, the XXIX Winter Universiade finished in Krasnoyarsk. 50 volunteers “55+” and 9 young people with health problems helped participants and guests of the Games. Each of them contributed to the Universiade spirit. Representatives of the older generation helped viewers at ticket offices, seats, worked at food outlets, sports facilities. The young volunteers mainly worked as navigation volunteers. Previously, they all had special training.

Representatives of the older generation and young people on a par with everyone plunged into the world sporting event. The first ones proved that active life does not end with retirement. We should note that the oldest volunteer of the Universiade 2019 was 83 years old. And the young people proved that even if you have health problems, you can live a full, eventful life.

Natalya Eremina noted that the atmosphere of the Universiade reminded her of the Winter Spartakiad of the 80s: “The same sports vigour and indescribable emotions. I worked in the Biathlon Academy Sports Complex. It was especially pleasant when people of my age came up to hug us and expressed their admiration.”

Another volunteer of the "silver" age, Nina Yermakova, admitted that working at the Universiade demanded great responsibility. Thanks to her attentiveness and life experience, she was able to help a guest from Canada to find her lost bag.

Volunteer with special health conditions Anastasia Agafontseva helped to seat the audience at the Platinum Arena facility, where the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games were held: “I managed to see the most spectacular moments of the Universiade, including figure skating competitions. This is my first experience of participating in such a project. I got great pleasure, found new friends, so I want to continue volunteering.”

Welcoming the participants of the volunteer movement, Mayor Sergei Eremin noted: “I saw you and felt the joy and nostalgia for our world sports festival. For me, the heroes of those March days are all those who have now gathered in this room. You have created a truly heartfelt Universiade by putting a bit of yourself in it. Together we showed that Krasnoyarsk is a real, integral family, and the Universiade is a festival for all. Our volunteers with special health conditions challenged themselves and proved to others that nothing is impossible. Universiade emotions do not fade, but are reborn into a new quality.”
