The Open Festival-Competition of Snow and Ice Sculptures "Magic Ice of Siberia" has been held in Krasnoyarsk since 2013. The first Festival-competition was dedicated to the 165th anniversary of the birth of Vasily Surikov and the 385th anniversary of the founding of the city of Krasnoyarsk.

In addition to the main professional artists' competition, the Festival includes local youth and family competitions for snow and ice sculptures, which usually take place before the professional nomination.

The unique feature of the “Magic Ice of Siberia” Festival-Competition is that it combines two categories at once: “Snow” and “Ice”. Many other international projects, as a rule, choose only to focus on. Over the years, the Competition welcomed sculptors from the USA, China, Latvia, Japan, as well as many Russian cities. That being said, the teams from Krasnoyarsk also always actively participate in the “Magic Ice of Siberia”.
