08.09.2026Young athletes from the Krasnoyarsk Region proudly held their own and won four medals at the competition. Held in Krasnoyarsk, this marked the 21st edition of the International Youth Freestyle Wrestling Tournament in Memory of Buvaysar Saitiev.

Sportsmen under the age of 16 competed for medals across 12 weight categories: up to 35 kg, 38 kg, 41 kg, 44 kg, 48 kg, 52 kg, 57 kg, 62 kg, 68 kg, 75 kg, 85 kg, and 100 kg. Approximately 300 participants represented six countries: Russia, China, Mongolia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan.
A total of thirty athletes from our region participated in the event. Arseniy Rudenko secured a gold medal for the team in the under-35 kg category; the young wrestler reacted emotionally to his victory and ran a lap of honor carrying the Russian flag. Dmitry Trapeyev (48 kg) won a silver medal, while Mark Poputnikov (52 kg) and Ivan Kartashov (85 kg) took home bronze.

Distinguished guests at the tournament included Arslanbek Aliev, head coach of the Russian national youth team (U-15), and Rakhim Saitiev, son of Buvaisar Saitiev.
The Tournament honoring three-time Olympic champion Buvaisar Saitiev is one of the lead-up events to the 14th International Sports Forum "Russia: Country of Sports," which will take place in Krasnoyarsk from October 21 to 23.
