The International Forum of Indigenous Peoples concluded in Krasnoyarsk, at one point bringing together over 700 participants from 27 Russian regions and 14 countries. The event was held as part of the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.

Representatives of indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia, and the Far East, as well as representatives from foreign countries, community leaders, scientists, business representatives, and international organizations participated in the event. Among other esteemed attendees were official ambassadors of Mexico, Bolivia, Nicaragua, and Ethiopia. Also present were Anatoly Seryshev, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Siberian Federal District; Igor Barinov, Head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs; and Alexander Novyukhov, Senator and President of the Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North and the Far East of the Russian Federation.

The discussion focused on preserving traditional ways of life and biodiversity, sustainable nature management, and the development of traditional livelihoods. The participation of indigenous peoples in decision-making related to their territories was also discussed.

Forum participants prepared proposals for COP17 – the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, held in Yerevan in October of this year. The delegates also shared experiences of regional Councils of Indigenous Peoples' Representatives. They discussed legislative improvements and made proposals for the upcoming People's Report on the Contribution of Indigenous Peoples to the Development of Russia and other matters.
