15.08.2026The Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Region Mikhail Kotyukov and Special Envoy & Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Russian Federation Genet Teshome Jirru spoke about potential joint projects for the two countries. The discussion took place as part of the International Forum of Indigenous Peoples.

The parties agreed that joint projects in business, tourism, education, culture, sports, and youth policy will be an important step towards a stronger relationship between the Krasnoyarsk Region and Ethiopia.
The Governor emphasized that the Krasnoyarsk Region respects representatives of all ethnic groups. At the forum, the region is sharing its experience of mutual neighbourly cooperation and implementing projects to support indigenous peoples. Siberia welcomes Ethiopia's initiatives and is ready to consider proposals, including those related to general personnel training, scientific research, and student, cultural, and sports delegation exchanges:
— I believe that your visit will become a strong and reliable foundation for the development of relations between our territories.
In his response, His Excellency the Ambassador thanked the Governor for his hospitality and noted that participation in this major international forum is a great honor for multinational Ethiopia. One of the goals of Mr. Genet Teshome Jirru's visit is to expand the country's experience in hosting significant events that address socially important global issues and to strengthen friendly ties with the Krasnoyarsk Region:
