​​​​​In July, more than four hundred students from 19 countries—Armenia, Belarus, Brazil, Vietnam, Egypt, Israel, India, Kazakhstan, China, Cuba, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Chile, Ecuador, and Russia—spend two weeks creating, studying, and learning to be friends and listen to each other.​

The project culminated in a three-day intensive industry hackathon organized by the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom​ and RusHydro. For many of the participants, this was a fundamentally new experience. Teams tackled problems developing applied solutions for real-world business processes. On the first day, teams of ten, together with mentors, developed concepts and project architectures. On the second day, they refined the details and prepared presentations. On the third day, they presented their projects to a jury. The best teams were recognized for their thoroughness, practical value, and innovative approach to the projects.

SFU's industrial partners, RUSAL and Krastsvetmet, also offered the participants tours of real production facilities, allowing them to experience cutting-edge industrial solutions in action.​

In addition to scheduled classes, participants were offered sports and cultural activities, as well as time for informal communication and networking.

Our guests particularly praised the expansive panoramas of the National Centre RUSSIA, the breathtaking views of the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Station, and the trip to the "Uspensky" Cultural and Historical Centre. Students and teachers put their athletic training to good use during a climb up Russia's longest staircase of the Torgashinsky Ridge and a hike through the Krasnoyarsk Stolby National Park.

The Summer University is an international project of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, launched in 2021. The project aims to introduce students to the opportunities offered by Russian education, foster interpersonal, intercultural, and international communication, and develop ties between countries and their student populations.​ ​
