More than 600 boys and girls from activity clubs of the city and national-cultural autonomies, as well as pupils of daycare centres and students of schools of the city took part in it.

Russian traditional sarafan, Tatar kalfak, and Azerbaijani papakha—all intermingled in a single, colourful children's celebratory procession. The celebration was timed to coincide with Children's Day, the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.

A kindergarten teacher, Olga Kalinina, whose pupils participated in the procession, said:

— We made a lot of dresses. We're especially proud of our Russian folk costumes. See here a mother, a father, and four children—all wearing costumes hand-sewn by the mother, a skilled craftswoman. Everyone worked very hard. A huge thank you to the organisers for such a wonderful event!

Mayor of Krasnoyarsk himself proposed bringing this idea to life during a meeting of the Public Council on National Issues.

Sergei Vereshchagin then personally came to Tatyshev to support the group:

— Such a festive procession is held on Tatyshev Island for Children's Day for the first time. In the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, it became a symbol of the unification of our city's multinational family. I am grateful to the children and their parents for their thorough preparation!

Krasnoyarsk is a multinational city. Representatives of over 130 nationalities live in the regional capital. Events like these help residents better understand each other and respect the cultures of their neighbours.

Evgeniya Yuryeva, Deputy Mayor of Krasnoyarsk and Head of the Department of Social Development, also participated in the event:

— Of course, every nation has its own traditions and unique characteristics. Children's Day is a wonderful opportunity to unite, to highlight our individuality, and to reiterate that the peoples of Russia are united, and children are our better selves and our future.

Dongak Omak, a representative of the Tuvan National Cultural Autonomy, shared his impressions of the event:

— Culture and traditions should be instilled from childhood. When a child wears a national costume from an early age and understands the meaning of each pattern, they will never lose touch with their ancestors. Such events help preserve not only their roots but also introduce them to the culture and traditions of other peoples living in Krasnoyarsk.

The highlight of the celebration was a traditional round dance khorovod that brought together children of different nationalities.
