Events are underway in the Krasnoyarsk Region to mark Indigenous Peoples of Russia Day, established for the first time by a Presidential decree. In the Region, home to representatives of eight ethnic groups, this date is receiving special attention.

According to official statistics, approximately 16,000 indigenous peoples live in the Region, including the Evenk, Dolgan, Nenet, Ket, Nganasan, Selkup, Enet, and Chulym people. That being said, the Region accounts for approximately 23% of the Russian Arctic.​

Celebratory and formal events are taking place in several regions, including Evenkia, Taimyr, the Turukhansk District, and Krasnoyarsk. The festive programme includes national sports competitions, exhibitions, concerts, master classes, and culinary competitions.

2026 has been declared the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. In this regard, a number of major events are planned in the Region. The Evenk Youth Forum will take place in June, and in August, Krasnoyarsk will host the 5th Interregional Youth Forum "Siberian Argish," the International Forum of Indigenous Peoples of the World, and the 21st "Treasures of the North" exhibition and fair. The Krasnoyarsk Region will host the latter two events for the first time. A historical forum dedicated to the role of indigenous peoples of the North in the development of the country is also being considered.
