This "little Indonesia" was born in Krasnoyarsk thanks to a project joined by the Krasnoyarsk Art Museum named after V.I.Surikov. The project brought together several dozen artists from various regions of Russia who worked in Indonesia as part of expeditions. The works introduce the islands' everyday life, culture, history, and images of this wondrous world, as well as their exotic natural beauty.

The project is timed to coincide with several significant dates in Russian-Indonesian history: the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 80th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
