Young students from our Surikov Children's Art School No. 1 are currently participating in the First International Festival «Мы – дети Севера» ("We Are Children of the North") named after M. Maksimov. On the competition site are authentic Yakut rituals, shamanic bonfire, and warm beverages for the participants.

Despite the cold weather and strong wind in the northern Yakutsk, the work is in full swing. True atmosphere of creative camaraderie reigns over the Festival!

The competition is fierce. Artists from Khabarovsk, Novosibirsk, and Irkutsk, as well as the strongest teams from Yakutia and even China, are vying for victory. Krasnoyarsk is represented by Ekaterina Isaeva and Vitalina Knyazevak, who have previously joined and won the children's and family competitions at the Krasnoyarsk "Magic Ice of Siberia" Festival.

The competition jury was joined by the director of Surikov Children's Art School No. 1 Maria Kazachenko. Her successful visit to the 42nd Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival in January as a representative of the Krasnoyarsk artistic community turned out to become the neccessary step to the possibility for our young sculptors to participate in professional-level contests outside of our city.​
