The May 1st Palace of Culture hosted a major multicultural festival "Living Thread of Traditions." Over 140 performers from various ethnic associations in the Krasnoyarsk Region presented the diversity of folk traditions through music, dance, and costumes, demonstrating the depth of Russia's culture.
The guests of the event were greeted by various activities right from the foyer and had the opportunity to participate in creating a Wreath of Friendship or try their hand at making traditional protective doll-charms at a workshop hosted by the "Magic Workshop" studio.
The following concert full of performances by representatives of various nationalities was the highlight of the evening. The audience thoroughly enjoyed dance numbers by the Chuvash folk ensemble "Dubravushka" and the Polish song and dance ensemble "Korale." The director of "Armenia" Siran Martirosyan explained their mentality when preparing dance stages:
— Our dances are always steeped in centuries-old history and the wisdom of generations past. Every movement, every rhythm, is deeply rooted. It's a great honor for us to introduce the people of Krasnoyarsk to the culture of the Armenian people. We don't simply showcase our art; we deepen this intercultural bond.
The exemplary Cossack cultural group "Northern Wind" was a special guest at the Festival. The performers came to Krasnoyarsk from the city of Okha in the Sakhalin Region. The Taimyr choreographic ensemble "Kharp," which means "Northern Lights" in Nenets, made its debut at the festival. The group's performance allowed the public to experience the distinctive culture of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic.
Representatives of over 130 nationalities live in the regional capital. The "Living Thread of Traditions" Festival is held in Krasnoyarsk as part of the municipal programme "Promoting the Development of Civil Society." Its goal is to strengthen interethnic and interconfessional harmony.
