From November 11th to 22nd, Krasnoyarsk will honor the memory of the pilots of the Krasnoyarsk Air Route, also known as the "Alaska-Siberia" air route or ALSIB. This legendary route ferried over 8,000 aircraft from the United States to the USSR during World War II to serve the front. The route was characterized by challenging weather conditions, which only the most courageous pilots successfully navigated.

Traditionally, the Festival begins on November 11th, the very day on which in 1942 the first batch of aircraft landed at the Krasnoyarsk airfield. An online meeting with representatives of the regions through which the route passed—Krasnoyarsk Krai, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Magadan and Irkutsk Oblasts, and the Sakha Republic (Yakutia)—was held at the Victory Memorial Museum with the support of the Northern Forum. Members of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society, schoolchildren, and representatives of municipal and regional authorities also attended the meeting.

Participants from the American side joined the broadcast: Northern Forum Goodwill Ambassador to the United States Paul Fuhs; President and Chairman of the Bravo 369 Flight Foundation Jeff Geer; scholar and translator of Ivan Negenblya's book "The History of the Fairbanks-Yakutsk-Krasnoyarsk Air Route" Peter Clark; August and Irina Schaefer, active supporters of preserving the memory of the ALSIB heroes.

Participants from the Russian and American sides greeted each other, congratulated each other on the anniversary of the historic event, and discussed plans to preserve the memory of the heroism of the ferry pilots.

The Krasnoyarsk Festival program is scheduled for several days and includes events of various formats. On the evening of November 11th, the Krasnoyarsk Philharmonic's Small Concert Hall will host the play "Special Mission" by the Artefact Historical Reenactment Theater. The production is based on Grigory Kiselyov's book "Pioneers of the Air Convoys," the author has come to Krasnoyarsk for the performance.

This weekend, on November 15th, the Victory Memorial Museum will host a film lecture series entitled "Classified Materials." On November 16th, participants of the "We Have the Right to Remember" motor rally will also meet at the Museum.

On Monday, November 17th, a wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Troitskoye Cemetery at the mass grave of military pilots who participated in the Great Patriotic War. That same day, the Cinema House will host a film screening about the history of the Krasnoyarsk Air Route and a meeting with Alexander Matveev, head of the "Trassa" ("Air Route") search team.

The Festival will feature themed lectures, quizzes, meetings, and traveling exhibitions at schools and cultural institutions across Krasnoyarsk.

The program will conclude with a vibrant sporting event: a GTO ("Ready for Work and Defense") festival dedicated to the heroes of the Krasnoyarsk Air Route will be held at School No. 93.

The "Days of the Heroes of the Krasnoyarsk Air Route" Festival is of great importance for those who care about preserving the history of our city, region, and country and passing on this knowledge to the younger generation. We see strong interest in this topic from educational institutions, the scientific community, and our friends from the United States. During today's meeting, all participants noted the respect the American side has shown for the heroism of the Soviet pilots and the significance of our mutual Victory in World War II!

Inna Dozortseva, Deputy Head of Department - Head of International Affairs Division of Mayor's Department of Krasnoyarsk City Administration

ALSIB was never just about machinery and logistics. It was about resolve. About shared sacrifice. Every flight carried conviction, hope, and the promise of unity. And today, as we remember those who braved storms and silence, we honor the spirit of cooperation they embodied.

Jeff Geer, President and Chairman of the Bravo 369 Flight Foundation
