Every year, the entirety of Russia celebrates International Museum Day with the Night of Museums – a big event, which takes place all over the country. In Krasnoyarsk, this holiday of history keepers is celebrated on a grand scale: almost every museum of the city prepares a thoroughly thought out thematic programme for the evening.

At the same time, Krasnoyarsk also hosts the Museum Night, a large festival that unites performance art, music, theatre and communication. Since 2002, it has been held in spring and autumn by the Ploschad Mira Museum Centre, inspired by the 1997 Berlin project.

In 2025, the schedule of the events organised by the museums was exceptionally busy, just take a look:

An in-depth tour with the local electrician, concert of the band Tvoye Daleko, mystical boundaries, white trees, palm reading and a new exhibition "collage/assemblage/panache!", as well as performances, workshops, current exhibitions and photo zones.

"Scope" in Surikov Art Museum

The Surikov Museum offered its guests to immerse themselves in art in two sessions – first, the performance by the military orchestra of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Krasnoyarsk Region, second – Soviet poem reading done by professional reciters. Each session was accompanied by professional art mediation and a musical experiment by the Shkatulochka ensemble.

Folk song ensembles "Krasny Yar" and "Obereg", oil pastel drawing lessons, lecture marathon, flower photo zone, photo exhibition and two installations: "Optical Diary" and "With a heavy heart".

The evening was dedicated to the life of the museum during the war. A walking tour about the trains, new enterprises and objects of the troubled era. A game-imitation of the evacuation of valuables during the war, a lecture about the life of the Krasnoyarsk Museum of Local Lore back then and, finally, the performance of the folklore "Zhivaya starina" association.

Excursions about the heroes of the four elements – archaeologists, architects, pilots, cosmonauts, travelers, doctors and scientists. Meeting with guide dogs and their owners, opening of an exhibition about Leonid Chernyshev, concert of a folklore song ensemble with games and activities from experts in folk traditions.
