On December 7, the Krasnoyarsk Region celebrates its 90th anniversary. On this day in 1934, the Presidium of the Central Executive Committee of the RSFSR adopted a resolution on the formation of the region, which included 31 districts, the Khakass Autonomous Region, and the Taimyr and Evenki National Districts. Its total area initially exceeded two million square kilometers.

Over time, the Krasnoyarsk Region lost and gained territory, but today our region is the second largest in the country, occupying about 2.4 million square kilometers. According to Krasnoyarskstat, in 1934 the population of the Region was 1.7 million people. Ninety years later, the figure has changed significantly. In 2024, 2.8 million people live here. 

Past weekend, celebratory meeting and concert dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the foundation of the Krasnoyarsk Region took place in the Big Concert Hall of the Regional Philharmonics. Vladimir Putin congratulated the residents of the Region on the anniversary – his address was read by the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Siberian Federal District Anatoly Seryshev. 

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Alexander Novak personally congratulated his fellow countrymen. Former governors of the Region Lev Kuznetsov, Viktor Tolokonsky and Alexander Uss came to the ceremonial meeting.

Governor the Krasnoyarsk Region Mikhail Kotyukov and Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Region Alexey Dodatko congratulated the Region:

— Our region is proud of its rich history. Each of the past decades was overflown with important dates and events that made the Krasnoyarsk Region a strong source of support for Russia, a point of attraction for talented, hard-working people. During this time, a powerful economy was created, unique enterprises, scientific and cultural centres were built, our cities and villages were transformed. In the year of the anniversary, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the birth of Vladimir Dolgikh, Mikhail Reshetnev, Viktor Astafyev. Our task is to preserve and increase their legacy. We are building the future of the region on the foundation laid by our past generations. We continue the work of our predecessors and start new projects so that our region develops and always becomes a place where everyone can realize themselves and achieve success.

— The Krasnoyarsk Region and its capital are under particular scrutiny and care of the country's President. Thanks to his support, large infrastructure projects are being implemented here. The history of this Region was created by strong-spirited, hard-working, open-minded residents.
