The fight for the titles of the best began with the first stage in May in Tashkent. Then the strongest checkers players competed in Bulgaria, Georgia, Uzbekistan and even Zambia.
— Victoria performed in five stages out of seven. The most successful event for our athlete was the stage in Georgia, where she took two silvers in lightning programmes in the Russian and Brazilian versions of draughts-64, as well as bronze in rapid games. Victoria also stepped on the podium in Uzbekistan, where she earned the second place in rapid games. The two Turkish stages, as well as the performance in Bulgaria, were less successful. But the sum of qualifying points scored at these stages allowed Victoria to retain third place in the final standings, – said Victoria's coach Alexander Tsyganov.
Victoria Ivanus is 16 years old, nine of which she has been playing draughts. At the age of 14, the Krasnoyarsk athlete won a world championship event. Victoria trains under the guidance of Alexander Tsyganov at the 'Verticale' sports school.
