01.11.2023From October 28 to 31, Krasnoyarsk welcomed Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Russian Federation Ms Aidai Omurkulova. The main purpose of the visit of the esteemed guests was to get acquainted with the city of Krasnoyarsk and the Krasnoyarsk Region, discuss possible points of interaction between cities and regions of the two countries, and participate in events dedicated to the Kyrgyz culture and the 95th anniversary of an outstanding Kyrgyz writer, publicist and public figure Chinghiz Aitmatov.

During the visit, the Minister-Counselor visited a number of organizations and universities in Krasnoyarsk, including the Siberian Federal University, Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University, Reshetnev Siberian State University of Science and Technology, and met with representatives of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Administration and the Krasnoyarsk City Administration.
During the meeting with Deputy Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Region Valery Semenov, the parties discussed possible areas of mutually beneficial cooperation in terms of increasing trade turnover, attracting investment, developing tourism, and interaction in the fields of education and culture. Ms Omurkulova acknowledged that Kyrgyzstan is interested in developing interregional cooperation with the region in such sectors of the economy as agriculture, light industry and tourism, as well as in humanitarian and cultural interaction:
— Bilateral cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan is one of true alliance, of strategic partnership, which remains an unchanged foreign policy constant for the Kyrgyz Republic.

During the Minister-Counselor's meeting with the Mayor of Krasnoyarsk, the latter emphasized the development of bilateral cooperation between Krasnoyarsk and Jalal-Abad – the newest sister city of Krasnoyarsk as of October of this year:
— A few weeks ago, the Mayor of Jalal-Abad Ernisbek Ormokov and I signed a Memorandum on establishing sister city ties between our cities. At the intermunicipal level, we discovered many areas for genuine cooperation. We are always open for dialogue, friendship and active interaction.

As part of the visit, Ms Omurkulova attended Reshetnev Siberian State University of Science and Technology, where the Minister-Counselor participated in a discussion on strategic partnerships with universities in Kyrgyzstan, admission and training of Kyrgyz students to Krasnoyarsk universities, as well as prospects for holding joint cultural and humanitarian events in the future.
In honor of the delegation, various Krasnoyarsk organisations prepared events dedicated to Kyrgyz culture. On October 29, the event "Travel to Kyrgyzstan. Jalal-Abad region" took place at the House of Friendship of Peoples of the Krasnoyarsk Region, where the Krasnoyarsk residents were offered the opportunity to try authentic Kyrgyz cuisine, visit an exhibition of arts and crafts, and attend a concert dedicated to the Kyrgyz culture.

On October 30, a gala event dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the outstanding writer from Kyrgyzstan Chingiz Aitmatov was held at the Krasnoyarsk Cinema House. As part of the event, the Krasnoyarsk local public organization "Kyrgyz National-Cultural Autonomy", the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Russian Federation with the support of the Krasnoyarsk City Administration prepared an exhibition "Chingiz Aitmatov. The First Teacher" , as well as a retrospective screening of the movie "The White Steamer"; the guests of the event had the opportunity to take part in an interactive lecture about the traditional life and art of the Kyrgyz people and get acquainted with one of the most ancient cultures of Asia.

At the event, the Representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Krasnoyarsk Artem Zakharov gave a welcoming speech, emphasising that the high level of organization and interest of the Krasnoyarsk citizens in cultural exchange with the partner country are an indicator of strong humanitarian ties between our region and the Kyrgyz Republic.
