Krasnoyarsk and Jalal-Abad (Kyrgyzstan) became sister cities. A Memorandum on establishing sister city relations between Krasnoyarsk (Russian Federation) and Jalal-Abad (Kyrgyzstan) was signed by the Mayors of the municipalities Vladislav Loginov and Ernisbek Ormokov.

The mutual friendship and beneficial relations between the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic, which have developed in recent years, as well as the desire for more effective use of the economic, social, intellectual, cultural, sports and tourism potential of the two cities became the primary incentive for the document.

Jalal-Abad is the third largest city in Kyrgyzstan, one of the industrial centres of the Republic. The municipality offers light, food, mining and oil refining industries enterprises. Along with increasing economic interaction, the sister cities will actively cooperate in the field of education, primarily the Russian language studies, as well as the field of cultural education; in the future, the cities promise joint sports competitions and mutual schoolchildren and students exchange.

The meeting of Mayors and the signing ceremony of the Memorandum took place within the framework of the X Russian-Kyrgyz interregional conference "New Horizons of Industrial Cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan". On the same day, conference participants took part in the laying of the Friendship Park of the Regions of Russia and Kyrgyzstan in Jalal-Abad. The Mayors of the twin cities planted trees on one of the alleys of the future park.

— Despite the twists and turns of history, the residents of Russia and Kyrgyzstan have maintained good relations, mutual interest and a sincere desire to be friends. We truly have a lot in common. Everything done while we were residents of the same country was not done in vain. Our sister-city ties are proof of this, – said Vladislav Loginov.

The leadership of the Krasnoyarsk local public organization "Kyrgyz National Cultural Autonomy" has consistently supported the initiative to develop economic and sociocultural interaction, strengthen cooperation between the municipalities of Russia and Kyrgyzstan, giving the relations an official status in the end. Members of the public organization took an active part in organizing and conducting the visit of the Krasnoyarsk delegation to Jalal-Abad.
