​​From May 25 to 27, the Ivan Yarygin Sports Palace hosts an international competition in rhythmic gymnastics, specifically the II stage of the Cup of the Strongest. Athletes from 12 countries will take to the Krasnoyarsk stage. Teams from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, China, Kyrgyzstan, Italy, Belgium, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Syria have confirmed their participation so far. For the first time ever, athletes of Grenada – a small island state in the Caribbean – will compete for medals as well.

The most numerous in the tournament will be the Russian team. More than 50 gymnasts from the regulars of the national team came to the regional centre.

— We also invite gymnasts from all-Russian sports societies to participate. This gives more young female athletes the opportunity to enter competitions and show their abilities. The number of participants from each subject is limited according to the regulations. This means fewer the number of talented athletes. And we want to give them a chance. Now we have athletes from sports societies, – said the president of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics Yulia Dyachenko.

The Cup of the Strongest will be held in group and individual all-around events according to the rules of the International Gymnastics Federation and the rules of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation. The athletes will also compete for sets of medals in other specific types of all-around events.

Even the leaders of the Russian rhythmic gymnastics team, Dina and Arina Averina, flew to Krasnoyarsk. The gymnasts will not participate in competitions, but will hold a master class for our young athletes.
