The prize-winners of the World Freediving Indoor Championship returned to Krasnoyarsk. The competitions were held in Kuwait from May 8 to 12. The Krasnoyarsk athletes managed to win 7 medals of various denominations.

Krasnoyarsk athletes won two medals in the freediving discipline on the first competitive day of the. Denis Arshanov became the world champion at 2x50 distance.

On the second day of the Championship, the Krasnoyarsk athletes brought three more medals to the national team. The gold medal in the 4x50 distance was won by Mikhail Drozdov, who was ahead of his countryman Denis Arshanov. "Bronze" among women was won by another representative of Krasnoyarsk, a graduate of the regional academy of summer sports, Anastasia Beletskaya.

On the third day of the competition, the Krasnoyarsk "submariners" won two more medals of the Championship in underwater sports in the freediving discipline. Mikhail Drozdov won his second gold medal. This time he became the best at the 8x50 distance. In the same discipline among women, Anastasia Beletskaya became one of the best, having improved the world record by as much as 5 seconds, losing only to an Italian athlete Chiara Zaffaroni.

At the airport, the athletes were welcomed home by relatives, friends, the participant of the Olympic Games in Sydney, director of the Academy of Summer Sports Alexei Kovrigin, and the director of the city sports school "Sputnik" Denis Cherkasov:

— We are incredibly proud of our athletes. They have grown a lot and have been showing the ever-improving results for several years now. Arshanov has already become the champion of Russia and the world champion, was the winner of th​e mayor's award for young talents in 2022. Of course, the sports career continues, and we will do our best so that this is only the beginning of their path.

In total, athletes from 44 countries took part in the World Freediving Indoor Championship.
