The historic homeland of the great artist will bring together 40 works from the Russian Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, as well as the museums of the Krasnoyarsk Region. 10 of them came from the State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg) alone. Among them is the artist's largest painting, "Yermak's Conquest of Siberia".

Krasnoyarsk residents will also have the opportunity to appreciate "The Capture of Snow Town", the only large-format painting by Vasily Surikov that does not depict a historical event. The painting instead shows an old traditional outdoors game popular among the Cossack population of Siberia. The work was created in Krasnoyarsk.

From the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow) came "Tsarevna visiting monastery", sketches for the painting "Boyarina Morozova" and several other works by Vasily Surikov, as well as the "Portrait of the Artist Vasily Surikov" by Ilya Repin. The museums of the Region, such as the Krasnoyarsk Art Museum of V.I. Surikov, the Krasnoyarsk Regional Museum of Local Lore and Museum-Estate of V.I. Surikov also lent works of the artist for the Exhibition.

A large-scale study was carried out for the Exhibition - contemporary artists of Krasnoyarsk shared how Vasily Surikov influenced them and the history of Russian art in general. In addition, visitors will be presented with a timeline reflecting on the most interesting facts from the life of the painter.

The Exhibition will be open at the Museum Centre "Ploschad Mira" from May 12 to July 9, 2023.
