From December 24 to January 24, the city will host the annual Winter Surikov Arts Festival for the sixteenth time. Once again, during the New Year holidays, Krasnoyarsk residents are invited to visit exhibitions, concerts, performances, film screenings and unusual excursion routes about the life and work of the great Russian artist Vasily Surikov.

As per tradition, the opening ceremony will take place on the stage of the Small Concert Hall of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Philharmonic. This year, a special premiere is being prepared for the audience – a literary and musical concert "The Priceless Gift". The actors of the Theatre on the Roof project will perform excerpts from the book of Surikov's granddaughter, now a famous writer and translator Natalia Konchalovskaya. The artistic word will be performed to the accompaniment of the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra and vocal accompaniment by the soloists of the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Choir.

Other novelties await the guests of the festival, such as an ethnic-themed kokoshnik  fashion show of the Krasnoyarsk designer Olga Laptenok performed by the Yeniseiskiye Zori ensemble, an anniversary exhibition of the contemporary Krasnoyarsk artist Alexander Surikov, unpublished manuscripts of the surikologist Vladimir Kremenov, antique rarities in the Museum-Estate of the painter and much more.

This year the Musical Journey project, beloved by many residents and guests of the city, returns as well. The Krasnoyarsk Chamber and Brass Orchestra alongside the Chamber Choir will once again be giving concerts at railway stations, performing well-known classics and pop pieces.

This new year's festival programme includes the Youth Ice Sculpture Competition, organised as part of the Winter in Strelka project. The creative competition will take place from 13 to 19 January in Mira Square. The youth competition will be held instead of the traditional Magic Ice of Siberia, an international competition canceled due to the difficult epidemiological situation.

The final chord of the event will be a Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra concert led by the conductor from Florence Igor Polesitsky, dedicated to the Italian impressions of the famous Russian painter.
