05.12.2019From December 1, the Russian half-pipe team has been training in Krasnoyarsk on the tracks of the Sopka cluster, which hosted the Winter Universiade competition in March this year. The training camp is the first for Russian athletes at this unique Krasnoyarsk facility.
«A quarter pipe and big air trampolines were built in Krasnoyarsk especially for the training of the national team. Moreover, an air cushion was transported from Miass and installed on Sopka. The conditions here are excellent, the entire infrastructure is accessible. The Krasnoyarsk Regional Federation helps us a lot in organising everything. We hope that the results of the first training camp of the national freestyle team in Krasnoyarsk will be fruitful,» – commented head coach of the Russian team Mikhail Nosov.
Participant of the Pyeongchang Olympic Games Valeria Demidova, silver medalist of the 2019 Junior World Championships Yaroslavna Muntyan, winners of international youth competitions World Rookie Tour in France Daria Tatalina and Fedor Muralov, bronze medalist of the World Winter Universiade 2015, participant of the 2018 Olympic Games Pavel Chupa train in the team, as well as Vyacheslav Averin, Leonid Frolov, Ksenia Vakulovskaya and Roman Egorov. Peter Kordyuk and Anton Komarov work with said athletes.
According to the press centre of the Russia Freestyle Federation, athletes training in Krasnoyarsk is set to end on December 15. Then the team will leave to compete in the World Cup stage in China. For Valeria Demidova, the camp will be finished even sooner, as on December 7 she will leave for the USA to the World Cup stage.
The Sopka cluster was built specifically for the Winter Universiade-2019 In March, student competitions in freestyle and snowboard were held there. Now competitions and trainings in various sports take place here and in March 2020, the object will host the stages of the Freestyle World Cup in the disciplines of acrobatics and mogul.
