Festival "Magic Ice of Siberia"


The first International festival-contest of snow and ice figures “Magic Ice of Siberia” will take place in Krasnoyarsk from the 13th till 19th of January 2013.

The Festival is dedicated to the 165th anniversary of Russian painter Vasiliy Surikov’s birthday and to the 385th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk foundation. “Magic ice of Siberia” is held within the VII Surikov’s Winter Art Festival.

The main aim of the Festival is an attaching of Krasnoyarsk citizens to the modern culture and a forming of a Krasnoyarsk brand as a city of unique art-technologies. Also the Festival will help to create the conditions for the forming of Krasnoyarsk snow-ice art’s school and the conditions for a qualitative and substantive leisure of the citizens and the city’s guests.

The Contest’s participants are the teams, formed from professional artists, sculptures, architects (including specialists from near and far abroad). There will be the representatives from such Russian cities as Moscow, Perm, Yekaterinburg, Blagoveshchensk, from near abroad – Latvia and Kazakhstan. Also teams from the USA (Fairbanks, Alaska) and China (Harbin) will visit the Festival.

The place of Festival’s holding is the embankment of Yenisei River in Krasnoyarsk.

The Festival’s founder is the Krasnoyarsk city Administration. The organizers are the Administration’s International Affairs Department, Social Policy Department, Culture Department and the city social fund “Dixi”.
