The team of the Essentuki city sports school "Vertical" represented Russia at the European Draughts Championship among girls and boys in Turkey in April 19-28.

As a result of the Blitz programme, the school's students showed very impressive results:

• Daria Makarova won a silver medal in the girls' group under 9 years old;
• Vladislav Koblevsky won a bronze medal in the boys' group under 17 years old.

As a result of the Rapid programme, two more medals were added to the team's treasury:

• Daria Makarova became the European draughts champion in the girls' group under 9 years old;
• Vladislav Koblevsky won a bronze medal among boys under 17 years old.
