From 23 to 25 July Sydney (Australia) hosted the FIRST LEGO LEAGUE Asia Pacific Open Championships. More than 40 teams from Australia, Japan, USA, Philippines, Korea, China, Singapore, Germany, New Zealand and Russia took part in the championship. "The Mafia" team from the Robotics Laboratory "Future Engineers" (School #149) represented Krasnoyarsk. The Krasnoyarsk team won their chance to take part in world competitions when they became absolute champions of the FIRST Russia Robotics Championship 2.0 held in Nizhny Novgorod in April this year.

The Australian championship was held online. The team communicated with the judges and referees of the championship in a zoom conference format. Members of the team had a chance to practice their skills in English too, as they, without any interpreter's help, had to answer difficult technical questions concerning the mechanics and design of their robot. After three competition days, the team managed to earn 600 points in the Robot Game and became the absolute winner of the "Robot Games" nomination.

This season has been very productive. All the difficulties and limitations only inspired us to search for new solutions. A great part of our success is based on our main goal - sharing our experience with all the participants of the competition.

Maxim Turushev, director of the Robotics Laboratory "Future Engineers"

In addition to the Robot Games results, the judges highly evaluated the teamwork spirit demonstrated by the Krasnoyarsk team and "The Mafia" won the 2nd place in the "Core Values" nomination.
