The Russian Robotics Olympiad, timed to coincide with the City Day celebrations, was taking place online from June 24 to 27. The competition was attended by children of 8 to 20 years old from 40 regions of Russia and Romania. In the course of three days, the 280 teams demonstrated their own innovation-oriented projects under the «Energobots – the Future of Energetics» motto.

«We wanted to arrange a face-to-face Krasnoyarsk-based event for the young engineers, but opted to transfer the competition to an online format (in just a couple of days!) for the safety of the kids. I sincerely thank all the participants and organizers for doing this! Online format did not stop us from recharging each other with the energy of creativity. Once again, I was amazed at the innovations and developments that young people are already offering to the world,» – noted Mayor of Krasnoyarsk Sergei Eremin.

A specially established prize – Krasnoyarsk Mayor's Cup – was awarded to the Semelion team from the Centre for Pedagogical Excellence in Moscow, for the potential of the project's practical implementation. Semyon Trafnyak, a tenth grader, has developed a robotic plant growing system that is effective in urban conditions.

«Despite it being a "virtual" Olympiad and the participants defending their projects online, I would like to emphasise the impressive level of the kids' practical training. Nice to see our Krasnoyarsk teams showing excellent results again. Our youngest participants aged 8 and over are already winning prizes,» – says Maxim Turushev, co-organiser of the Olympiad.
