09.12.2025On December 5, Krasnoyarsk hosted the annual Krasnoyarsk City Forum, focused on community formation and development. The organisers once again worked hard to bring together federal experts and some of the most active members of local communities.

The discussions result in ideas for developing Krasnoyarsk's spaces and events. Previously implemented examples include the creation of a resource centre to support public initiatives, the "Bright Shores" (YARkie BEREGA) project, which has become a true flagship event of Krasnoyarsk, and the Factory of People's Initiatives—a project dedicated to open "street" events initiated by the Krasnoyarsk citizens themselves.
The Forum's date, as always, was chosen deliberately: participants met on the eve of the Region's founding anniversary. December 5th also marks International Volunteer Day. For the first time, volunteers from regional teams searching for missing persons participated in the event.
In the year of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Forum took the appropriate slogan: "Honoring History, Creating the Future." The plenary session was preceded by a performance by the Combined Military Orchestra of the Krasnoyarsk Formation of the Russian National Guard.
Acting Mayor Roman Odintsov greeted forum participants in a video message:
— In 2025, numerous patriotic projects were implemented. Our Victory Memorial Museum reopened after a major modernization, a patriotic centre was created at Lyceum No. 1, and, most importantly, at the behest of President Vladimir Putin, Krasnoyarsk became one of the first cities in the country to award the title of "Honorary Citizen" to veterans of the Great Patriotic War. Under the guidance of their mentors, our school students, created a unique production titled "Chronicle of Victory," which will be performed at the venues today. We are rightfully proud of these projects.

The plenary session was the Forum's first discussion platform. Federal experts discussed key topics in the context of urban community development, including patriotic education, modern educational formats, and preparations for Krasnoyarsk's 400th anniversary. Dmitri Shatokhin, Head of the Directorate for Participatory Budgeting in Government Programs at the Financial Research Institute of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, moderated the session:
— Krasnoyarsk's 400th anniversary is more than just a milestone; it's a point of growth, a moment from which the city can assert its ambitions as a centre for shaping Siberia's national identity, culture, and strategic development. Building on its legacy, it will be able to formulate development plans. Moreover, Krasnoyarsk boasts numerous examples of compelling projects, such as "Bright Shores" and the Factory of People's Initiatives.
One of the key agendas for the city's 400th anniversary was relations with China. Our city already has an example of positive cooperation: schools in Krasnoyarsk and Changchun are actively developing a joint educational project.
Ji Shaokun, Director of the Changchun School of Foreign Languages, addressed the audience via video greeting. Mr. Ji congratulated the guests on the opening of the Forum, spoke about the fruitful friendship with Krasnoyarsk Lyceum No. 1, as well as plans for further cooperation, and new areas of collaboration:
— Our mutual teacher-student exchanges and cooperation are not simply a matter of accumulating knowledge. They are a path to transformation of mentality and spiritual enrichment, leaving a profound international imprint on the very life of each participant of our joint project.

The experts also discussed another example: the "Engineers of the Future" project, a Krasnoyarsk-based movement of young roboticists. Schoolchildren are not only learning to design robots but are already contributing to the country's technological sovereignty. Marina Marchenko, Director of the Human Capital Development Department at AFK Sistema's Hydrogen Energy Centre, confirmed the company's interest in supporting our city's initiative.
