Applications from Russia and abroad for the professional competition are being accepted until November 1st. The participants will compete in "Snow" and "Ice" nominations. The jury will consider any sculptures made of snow, whereas ice sculptures must be created in either "Realism" or "Abstraction" genre.
The event includes three-membered teams of people over 18. The organizers are expecting teams from Mongolia, China, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and South Korea, as they have already received invitations to the Festival.
The organising committee will select the best sketches for 10 snow and 20 ice sculptures. The Festival-Competition for professional artists will take place from January 12th to 17th on the Central Embankment and, for the first time, in Teatralnaya Square.
Welcome to join are also younger sculptors, including university, art school and art college students not only of our Region but also other cities across Russia. The organisers will select only 10 teams to present their best draft designs. The main requirement is that each team must consist of two people between the ages of 16 and 35. The young people will begin bringing their projects to life on January 6th on the Central Embankment. The Krasnoyarsk families can also apply to compete with each other. One of the conditions of the Family competition is that children participate in the creation of the works. Children will also be able to compete in ice sculpture creation on their own. The organisers are seeking applications from youngest students of art schools and art academies aged 10 to 16.
Alexander Zaitsev, co-organiser of the "Magic Ice of Siberia":
— This is the first time we decided to dress our Teatralnaya Square up a bit with our sculptors' masterpieces, since we hope the works will be able to remain there for longer and bring joy to the residents of Krasnoyarsk. As we all know, external weather conditions like wind are much less of a factor in a controlled environment such as this. We're also very pleased that the project is expanding to more spaces, giving the artists more opportunities to express their creativity.
