​​​In January, the cultural program of the XIII Winter Surikov Art Festival will continue with premieres and popular projects.

 
January 11

 
The start of the Musical Journey through the Railway Stations of Krasnoyarsk.

The Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra and Krasnoyarsk brass bands, as well as the Choir Ensemble of Soloists “Tebe Poyem” (To Thee We Sing) will perform at the Yenisei, Zlobino and Bazaikha railway stations. One will have a chance to hear popular classics, Russian folk songs and romances.

 
January 17 to January 24

 
A sightseeing trolleybus will be launched in Krasnoyarsk.

During a week every day from 12.00 to 14.00 guided tours of Surikov places (City Garden, Krasnoyarsk district school, Novosobornaya and Starobazarnaya Squares, Blagoveshchenskaya Church, etc.) will be offered to the trolleybus passengers.

 
January 19

 
The Choir Ensemble of Soloists “Tebe Poyem” will present an opera “Lovelas” based on Fyodor Dostoevsky’s novel “Poor Folk”.

The music for the opera was written by one of the most popular contemporary composers, a professor of the Moscow Conservatory, artistic director of the Moscow Philharmonic Society Alexander Tchaikovsky.

Another artistic gift to the audience will become the "revived" paintings of Vasily Surikov. The Dance Ensemble “Yenisei Dawns” will present their choreographic performance “Surikov. An Experiment".

As the basis of the choreographic performance were taken 7 paintings by Vasily Surikov: “Stepan Razin”, “The Morning of the Streltsy Execution”, “Boyarina Morozova”, “Menshikov in Beryozovo”, “Princess Visiting a Convent”, “The Conquest of Siberia by Yermak”, “Siberian Beauty”. To recreate authenticity, the organizers ordered 128 historically stylized costumes.

 
January 24

 
The final stage of the festival and the birthday of Vasily Surikov. On this day several events will take place. There will be a traditional ceremony of laying the flowers at the Surikov monument in the artist's estate and the opening ceremony of the renovated Surikov Square, transformed and filled with new content thanks to the use of special modern art installations.

The day will end with a striking musical premiere - “Krasnoyarsk - the city of Surikov”.

 
The audience will see unique documentaries, which were previously kept in the archives and were not available for viewing on modern media. For example, the opening ceremony of the Surikov’s monument in 1954.

 
The musical part of the evening will include one of the outstanding works of Dmitri Shostakovich. The Krasnoyarsk Academic Symphony Orchestra directed by Vladimir Lande together with the Choir Ensemble of Soloists “Tebe Poyem” will perform a vocal-symphonic poem for bass, choir and orchestra with lyrics by Yevgeny Yevtushenko, “The Execution of Stepan Razin”.
