​Short Track Speed Skating All-Russian Student Competitions ended on October 28 in Krasnoyarsk

On the last day of the competitions, the skaters competed for the medals in the 1000-meter race, as well as in the 3000 and 5000-meter relay races. The competitions ended with the awarding ceremony.

The last day of the competitions brought victory for the following winning skaters of the previous final races. Evgenia Zakharova from Ekaterinburg finished first in the 1000-meter race and took the first place in the 3000-meter relay race. Thus, she won four gold medals during the Short Track Speed Skating All-Russian Student Competitions. "A relay race in short track is a race where success is impossible without a strong team spirit, " Evgenia Zakharova said. "I know my team-mates quite well. We raced and represented our county together at different international competitions not once, that's why it was easy for us to cooperate this time. Today all was beautiful and smooth. As a result we scored first." In the ladies' relay race the gold medals were also won by the team of Tatiana Kobyzeva from Omsk, Elizaveta Kuznetsova and Ulia Shishkina, the skaters from Chelyabinsk. In the ladies' 1000-meter final race Ulia Shishkina finished second winning the silver medal, Daria Rozmakhova from Smolensk won the bronze medal.

Sergei Milovanov from Saint Petersburg placed first in the men’s 1000-meter final race, the second to finish was Andrey Kosorotov, the skater from Omsk, and Artem Denisov from Smolensk joined the top three. Artem Denisov, Daniil Zasosov, Daniil Eibog, Ivan Belonozhkin and Egor Mukhanov, the members of Smolensk State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism team, became champions in the 5000-meter relay race. “We are from one University, though we skated together only at the training before. Our team is quite strong, however Short Track Speed Skating is an unpredictable sport, even the leaders may fall. Anyway we counted on the victory and everything went on well,” Daniil Eibog shared his impressions after the relay race.

After the judges selected the strongest athletes at all the disciplines of the final day of the competitions, the awarding of the winners and medalists took place on the ice of Arena Sever Multifunctional Complex. Nam Hwan Park, FISU TCC for Short Track Speed Skating, Nikolay Olyunin, the Ambassador of the Winter Universiade 2019, as well as the representatives of ANO “Directorate Krasnoyarsk 2019” took part in the awarding ceremony.

We would like to remind you that the Short Track Speed Skating All-Russian Student Competitions were held in Krasnoyarsk for the first time. The winning skaters may join the national team that will take part in the Winter Universiade 2019.
