Krasnoyarsk pupils won a prize at the largest international English language Olympiad

Krasnoyarsk pupils have come back from the UK where they took part in British English Olympics (BEO). BEO, the largest English language Olympiad, has been held in the UK since 2008.

More than 2500 children from 24 countries took part in the event. Russia was represented by 7 teams from Nalchik, Moscow and Krasnoyarsk. Krasnoyarsk team included 8 pupils of the Gymnasium № 1 "Univers", Gymnasium № 13 "Academ", Lyceums № 7 and № 9 "Leader", Secondary school № 149. Within two weeks the pupils had sightseeing tours, visited sports events, concerts, famous places in London and, of course, took part in the competitions. Among their tasks were making a theatrical performance, presentation of one of the countries, taking part in the debates and many others. The champions of the Olympics became a team from Mexico, Krasnoyarsk team won the audience's choice award. From the UK our pupils brought back to Krasnoyarsk memorable gifts, diplomas and medals.

The main goal of British English Olympics is to create a special atmosphere for communication and interaction of children from all over the world. Hundreds of schoolchildren not only improve their English knowledge, but also immerse themselves in the life of the British school, study culture, history, discuss problems of global importance, learn to work in a multinational team.
