​The first Moscow student community of the Winter Universiade 2019 was opened at the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia

The first Moscow student community of the Winter Universiade 2019 was opened in Moscow on the territory of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) at 6 Miklukho-Maklay street. A cooperation agreement was signed by the RUDN Vice-Rector for Student Affairs Alexandr Gladush and the Deputy Director General of ANO “Directorate Krasnoyarsk 2019” Konstantin Gureev.

This is now the twenty-eighth student community of the Winter Universiade 2019 opened in Russia. As Konstantin Gureev noted, RUDN plays a significant role in attracting volunteers of the Universiade from different cities and countries of the world: “The Krasnoyarsk Territory and RUDN have a long history of friendly relations. And now the university will be able to take part in the largest international student event of the year 2019 – the Winter Universiade 2019. We will be pleased to welcome you to the real winter. Volunteers are the key part in creating a festive atmosphere of the Universiade. If you come to Krasnoyarsk you will feel the warmth of hearts and friendliness, which are the traditional features of Siberian people, and also you will be a part of a large-scale celebration of sport and hospitality”.

According to Alexandr Gladush RUDN students had already prepared their entry applications to join the volunteers team of the Winter Universiade 2019: “We all really want the Games to be a spectacular and exciting event. So we will do our best to help. I have been to the Krasnoyarsk Territory with its extraordinary beauty, taiga expanse. It is no coincidence that your city was awarded the right to host an international competition”.

The Ambassador of the Winter Universiade 2019, an actor and TV presenter Sergey Netievskiy also visited the event. He encouraged the students of RUDN to visit the competitions in Krasnoyarsk as volunteers and spectators. Then the participants of the meeting introduced the process of preparation for the competitions, answered the students’ questions regarding the specified requirements for the volunteers of the Winter Universiade 2019, what kind of training they will be given and in what areas of activity they will be involved. According to Konstantin Gureev, the student comunity has a task to attract at least 100 volunteers from other countries.

It should be noted that 28 student communities of the Winter Universiade 2019 are opened in Russia, including the one on the territory of RUDN. The Headquarters of the University Games are operating in St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Vladivostok, Yakutsk, Yekaterinburg and other major Russian cities. Each of the student community provides detailed information about the preparation for the University Games in Krasnoyarsk and the conditions of joining the volunteer movement. The objective of the student comunity is to promote student sport and the Winter Universiade 2019, as well as to develop the volunteer movement in regions. So far, ANO “Directorate Krasnoyarsk 2019” has received more than 20 thousand volunteer applications from 50 countries.
