​«Fishing season» and «Key to all doors» are snow and ice masterpieces which become winners of The VI Open International Festival-Competition of Snow and Ice Sculptures «Magic Ice of Siberia» 2018.

The jury summed up the results of The VI Open International Festival-Competition of Snow and Ice Sculptures «Magic Ice of Siberia» 2018 among professional teams. Ten teams in the nomination "ice" and ten in the nomination "snow" fought for prizes. Sculptors  from Japan, Latvia,  Republic of Belarus,  Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and cities of Russia: Moscow, Perm, Shelekhov, Khabarovsk, Krasnoyarsk, Sosnovoborsk took part in the Festival-Competition.

The ice composition "Key to all doors" of the «Edge of Ice» team, Ekaterinburg has become the best ice sculpture.

"Our conceptual sculpture has its own philosophy. We made the figure of a crow, which has a key instead of a beak. Of course, everyone understands this in his own way. As for me, it's a story about people, because it must be an approach to each person", - said Sergey Nikolaev, a member of the «Edge of Ice» team (Ekaterinburg).

The team «Magic Ice» from Krasnoyarsk and their sculpture «Faceless» took  the second place in the category "ice". One more Krasnoyarsk team «Ledchiki»  and their work «Entangled Fortunes» took the third place.

The team "Mususus" from the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), already known to the fans of snow and ice art, has become a winner in the nomination "snow". Furthermore, team "Mususus" was awarded with a special prize from the Executive Directorate of the XXIX World Winter Universiade 2019. This year  sculptors impressed the guests of the festival with their work "Fishing Season". The idea of the sculpture "Fishing Season" is based on the theme of the family, and this is not accidentally.

"We worked on the sculpture all together: me, my brother and our father, who endowed us an artistic talent," Roman Petukhov shared. - Every time I want to impress the audience with something new, to perform more interesting work, to test myself. This time we tried to create a snow network for fishing and we are very happy that our work is interesting  to guests".

Sculptor from Perm with his work «Game with a ball. Involution» has become the second in the nomination "snow". The team «Dark blue line» (Perm),  who presented the work «Five roads crossing», took the third place in The VI Open International Festival-Competition of Snow and Ice Sculptures «Magic Ice of Siberia» 2018.

Works from snow and ice fascinate the audience. Hundreds of residents and guests of the city come to see the finished sculptures on Tatyshev island. All the masterpieces once again confirmed: "The Magic Ice of Siberia" is not just a competition, it is a place where snow and ice come to life and the fairy tale turns into reality.

Mayor of Krasnoyarsk Sergei Eremin and Chairman of  Krasnoyarsk City Council of Deputies Tatyana Kazanova congratulated participants and guests of the festival with the holiday of the  snow and ice architecture.

"First days of  New Year 2018 were frosty, but despite this the warmth of hands and hearts of  masters allowed to create real masterpieces. As one of the classics said: "In the coldest winter I found out that there was an invincible summer inside me." "The Magic Ice of Siberia" has really melted  hearts of Siberians! Therefore, thanks to all participants of the festival for their skill, talent and desire to make miracles! I also thank all organizers of this event and, of course, the Honorary citizen of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Khazret Sovmen for invaluable support of the Festival-Competition", Mayor of Krasnoyarsk Sergei Eremin said.

We recall,  that the awarding of professional teams within the framework of the The VI Open International Festival-Competition of Snow and Ice Sculptures «Magic Ice of Siberia» 2018 is not finished yet. For the first time young sculptors will present their works in the western side of Tatyshev Park,  February, 26 – March, 3. And next year the Festival-Competition will become a part of the cultural program of the Universiade 2019.
