The competitions will be held at Multi-purpose Complex “Biathlon Academy” near Nikolaevskaya Sopka. Experts in ski orienteering consider the conditions in Krasnoyarsk to be close to ideal: the venue is surrounded with woods with varied relief, which will allow to plan interesting routes.

Ski orienteering competitions follow the rules approved by the IOF (International Orienteering Federation) and are held on several distances for women (W21 Group) and men (M21 Group). Only the athletes with the best personal results in individual and team events are eligible to participate in the Championships.

The 22nd Ski Orienteering World Championships will become a test event of the upcoming 29th Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019. The event will allow the organizers to test their venues, cohesion of their teams, determine the weak spots and eliminate them before the Universiade begins.
