​The regional championship of the WorldSkills Russia - 2017 held in Krasnoyarsk


On February 5th the names of the winners of the regional championship «Young professionals» (WorldSkills Russia) - 2017 which was held under the motto "The future of Krasnoyarsk Region is in the hands of professionals!" were announced in Krasnoyarsk. The award ceremony was held in the Grand Hall Siberia.

The characteristic feature of the championship this year is the number of competition skills, that has nearly doubled since last year (from 26 to 47). The number of participants has also increased. In addition, a number of young professionals from other regions of Russia (Moscow Region, Altai, Kurgan and Novosibirsk regions) have volunteered to take part in our regional championship. "This suggests that the last year competitions in Krasnoyarsk were held to a very high standard", said Deputy Minister of Education of Krasnoyarsk Region Olga Nikitina.

At this stage of the championship 500 participants (representatives of 80 organizations and institutions of secondary and higher vocational education, as well as young workers of industrial enterprises) competed to be the best in 47 competition skills.

Alongside the WorldSkills Russia competitions in Krasnoyarsk was held a regional championship for pupils, JuniorSkills. More than 200 pupils aged 10 to 17 years took part in this pupils championship.

We would also like to note that this year in the framework of the regional WorldSkills Russia championship were organized round tables, master classes and presentations for high school students, were functioning an exhibition "Metalworking and welding" and an exhibition of the leading Russian universities "Education. Profession and career".

"The  WorldSkills Russia movement, by its idea, is aimed at changing the quality of specialists training. These are the global standards that we are aiming at. That is why it is important for us to properly organize the grounds of the competition,  so that we could gather in one place employers, university professors and future specialists", Olga Nikitina said.



The participants of the championship have received their medals and awards, but they have also got the experience, which is sure to be useful in their future life. During 4 competition days the contestants not only "refined" their professional skills, but also showed their best personal qualities - endurance, communication skills, will to win.

Top experts in all competition skills noted the high level of training of the contestants, the organization and running of the competition in accordance with the high mission of the WorldSkills International movement, aimed at "development of professional skills, increasing the prestige of highly skilled specialists," the promotion of the importance of skills for the economic growth and personal success.

"Every year the tasks become 30% more difficult. The scale of assessment has a maximum of 100 points. To score 60 points, you need to do a certain amount of work in a set time period. This means the highest pace, the highest quality of work. Everyone who gets enough points for their tasks, is included into the database of the Russian championship. The winners will continue to the next qualifying stage. We, as the authorities, together with employers must create the conditions for talented, capable young men and women to clear the heights of the European and world championships. The level of participants qualifications increases every year, and our young professionals show better and better results. We once again congratulate all the winners of the championship with the completion of their competition tasks! We wish our participants a successful performance at the national competitions", said Deputy Minister of Education of Krasnoyark Region Olga Nikitina.

The regional championship lasted 5 days and was held at 13 different venues, including educational institutions, that have the equipment meeting all appropriate global standards, such as Siberian Federal University, Krasnoyarsk College of welding technologies and Krasnoyarsk College of industrial services, as well as functioning industrial enterprises - for example, the agricultural skills competitions were held on the grounds of the agricultural holding "Sangilen+".

The participants of the competition were congratulated with the successful completion of the competition tasks by the Hero of Russia, pilot-cosmonaut of the Russian Federation Alexander Lazutkin.

The winners awarding ceremony became a striking and memorable event. The winners received their well-deserved awards, which were handed over by the heads of ministries and regional trade unions. In her closing speech, Deputy Minister of Education of Krasnoyark Region Olga Nikitina highlighted the role of teachers in the preparation of the contestants, thanked the employers and branch ministries for their great contribution to the organization of the championship, "... for having done everything to let this great number of talented, gifted, successful young men and women appear in our Region. It is very important to have such a great army of professionals!"

In 2017, at the Regional Championship of Krasnoyarsk Region (WorldSkills Russia) - 2017  were awarded 132 medals for 47 competition skills, 47 of them - gold. The contestants professional skills were evaluated by 415 experts. Summing up the results of the championship, the main expert in "Joinery" competition skill and the official auditor for the "Young Professionals" Union Sergey Boldyrev noted the high level of preparation and running of the Regional Championship of Krasnoyarsk Region (WorldSkills Russia) - 2017 and thanked the organizers.

The regional team, that will be built based on the results of the championship, will compete in the qualifying rounds for the right to participate in the Final of the National championship "Young Professionals", that will take place in Sochi. The winners of the Final of the National Championship will be included in an expanded  list of the national team WorldSkills Russia.

WorldSkills ( "Young Professionals") - an international non-profit movement, which aims to increase the prestige of working professions and to promote the development of vocational education and skills in each particular country and throughout the world. Currently, the Russian WorldSkills movement unites more than 10 thousand participants from across the country, 15 thousand Russian and foreign experts, as well as more than 500 thousand spectators.

Krasnoyarsk Region joined the movement «Young professionals» (WorldSkills Russia) in 2013. Since then three regional championships «Young professionals» (WorldSkills Russia) have been held, and in 2016 Krasnoyarsk Region hosted the Siberian Federal District semi-final of the IV National Championship. Krasnoyarsk Region team took the first place by the number of medals won. In the Final of the National championship, which was held in Moscow region in May 2016, our team outran Novosibirsk Region and the Republic of Buryatia and became a leader by the number of medals won among the regions of Siberian Federal District. In the all-Russian rating our team took the 6th place.

Regional team qualified three times for the finals of the National Cup «Young professionals» (WorldSkills Russia), having added to the list of Krasnoyarsk region young professionals' awards 9 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze medals. 

In 2016 Krasnoyarsk College of hospitality and service was awarded the status of a specialized skills center (SSC) and became the first accredited SSC for restaurant service in Russia.
